Four Peaks Standing Together - A Magnificent Sculpture of Geological Movement
The modern posture of Mount Siguniang originated from the Himalayan orogeny that began about 2 million years ago. The powerful crustal compression caused a severe uplift of the eastern edge of the Qinghai Tibet Plateau, pushing ancient rock layers out of the sea. After repeated erosion and carving by glaciers, four magnificent mountain peaks with elevations exceeding 5000 meters, lined up in a row, and covered in snow all year round were finally formed today. From Yaomei Peak to Sanguniang Mountain, Eruniang Mountain, and Daguniang Mountain, their mountain ranges gradually decline, but each has its own unique character, together forming the most classic array of snow capped mountains in the Hengduan Mountains, which can be called a huge "geological epic".

Tears of Myth - The Legend of Dracula and the Four Girls
The name "Mount Siguniang" originates from a thousand year old Jiarong Tibetan myth. According to legend, the kind-hearted mountain god Dracula transformed into a majestic mountain peak in his fight against demons to protect his beloved four daughters from being invaded by demons. The four beautiful girls shed tears like a river, and then transformed into four sacred snow mountains, forever guarding the land and people beneath their feet. Among them, the highest and most handsome Yaomei Peak (Yaogu Mountain) has an altitude of 6250 meters and is known as the "Queen of Shu Mountain". Its pure and majestic image has become a source of countless artistic and spiritual creations. Mythology injects a warm soul into the cold and steep snow capped mountains, making them a sacred mountain in the hearts of the local people.

Must see Wonders: Concerto of Snow Peaks, Gullies, and Creatures

Natural Creation - A Stereoscopic Gallery of Four Peaks and Three Gullies
The rich landscape layers of Mount Siguniang are unparalleled in western Sichuan. The core can be summarized as "four peaks and three valleys": the four snow peaks are the soul, and the three valleys unfold this painting from different angles.
Holy Four Peaks - The Soul of the Skyline
Yaomei Peak: With an altitude of 6250 meters, it is the second highest peak in Sichuan. With its steep rock walls, perfect pyramid mountain shape, and enormous climbing difficulty, it is known as the "Eastern Alps" and is a technical hall for professional climbers. Its huge northern wall is particularly spectacular.
Sanguniang Mountain: With an altitude of 5355 meters and a beautiful mountain shape, it is a popular target for novice technical mountaineering.
Mount Erlang: With an altitude of 5276 meters and a relatively gentle slope, it is the "first 5000 meter snow mountain in life" for many hiking enthusiasts.
Daguniang Mountain: With an altitude of 5025 meters, the mountain is the most approachable and suitable for hikers with good physical fitness to experience high-altitude hiking.
Essence, Three Trenches - a three-dimensional exhibition hall of scenery
Shuangqiaogou: The most well-developed and easily accessible valley for sightseeing. The whole journey can be reached by sightseeing bus, along which dozens of scenic spots can be seen, such as Yin Yang Valley, Sun Moon Mirror, Wuse Mountain, Hunter Peak, Eagle Mouth Rock, Ginseng fruit Ping, etc. Here, you can enjoy the panoramic view of Mount Siguniang and it is also an excellent place to capture the reflection of the snow capped mountains (in Bonsai Beach and Sigunacuo).
Changpinggou: a paradise for hiking enthusiasts. The ancient trees in the valley are towering, and the primitive forests are densely covered, making it the core area for hiking through Mount Siguniang. Starting from the Goukou Lama Temple, passing through the Insect Foot Waterfall, the Dry Tree Beach, and finally reaching the Wooden Mule Camp, one can admire the magnificent figure of Yaojie Peak along the way. This is the starting point for hiking to Bipenggou (Long Crossing Bi).
Haizigou: The most adventurous and primitive valley. The entire journey requires horseback riding or hiking, and is known for its high mountain lakes and open alpine meadows. The famous Huahaizi and Dahaizi are set like gems among the mountains, and Chaoshanping is a traditional place for worshipping Mount Siguniang and a classic location for capturing panoramic views of the four peaks.
Secret Realm Creatures - Plateau Ecosystem
From an altitude of 3000 meters to over 6000 meters, the vertical drop brings a complete vegetation belt spectrum from temperate to cold regions. At the turn of spring and summer, the valleys are covered in green grass, and wildflowers such as rhododendrons, gentians, and artemisia bloom in the mountains. This is also an important habitat for rare animals such as giant pandas, golden monkeys, snow leopards, and takins.

Humanistic Craftsmanship - The Wisdom of Jiarong Tibetan Mountain Dwellings
The Mount Siguniang area is one of the main settlements of the Jiarong Tibetan people, where the relationship between humans and nature presents a unique harmony.
Residential houses and watchtowers: scattered in mountain valleys, Jiarong Tibetan villages are mostly built with stones and wood, square and thick, with white stones often placed at the four corners of the roof. The ancient stone watchtower has weathered storms and witnessed history and faith.
Chaoshan Festival and Burning Mulberry: Every year on the fourth day of the fifth lunar month, a grand "Four Girls Mountain Chaoshan Festival" is held in the local area. Tibetan compatriots dress up in costumes and bring sacrificial offerings to Chaoshan Ping in Haizigou to express their respect and blessings to the sacred mountain through chanting sutras, burning mulberry, and spreading dragon seeds.
Outdoor Culture Town: Siguniangshan Town (formerly known as Rilong Town) has developed from a small village to a well-known "outdoor town" both domestically and internationally. This place gathers professional mountain climbing collaborations, outdoor equipment stores, themed inns, and restaurants, forming a unique mountainous cultural community.

Photography tips:
Yaojie Peak Golden Summit: At sunrise, at the Cat Nose Bridge Observation Deck, waiting for the first ray of sunlight to dye the peak of Yaojie Peak red.
Changpinggou Forest Secret Realm: In the withered tree beach of Changpinggou, use the water surface and withered trees as the foreground to capture the reflection and autumn colors of Yaomei Peak.
Haizigou Starry Sky Galaxy: On a clear summer night, in the flower sea of Haizigou or Chaoshanping, you can take pictures of the snow capped mountains and the dazzling Milky Way in the same frame.

Five Must Do Things to Unlock a Complete Journey to the Holy Mountain
Take a panoramic photo with Mount Siguniang on the bridge of the cat's nose
The first thing to do upon arrival is to head to the Cat Nose Bridge Observation Deck next to G350 National Highway. This is the most classic and convenient location to enjoy the panoramic view of Mount Siguniang and its four peaks. Whether it's the golden mountains of sunshine in the morning or the towering silhouettes under the sunset, they are both moments that cannot be missed.
Choose a valley and embark on a high-altitude hike
Choose a valley to go deep based on your physical fitness. The popular choice is easy sightseeing in Shuangqiaogou; Choose Changpinggou as the starting point for hiking, and walk to the dry tree beach or wooden mule; Seeking wild fun, go to Haizigou and ride a horse to Huahaizi. Every step is watched by the snow capped mountains, and every breath is filled with the scent of pine vines and glaciers.
(Senior) Challenge a 5000 meter level snow mountain
For mountain enthusiasts with corresponding skills and physical fitness, Mount Siguniang or Mount Erfeng is an excellent choice for "the first snow mountain in life". Under the guidance of local professional mountaineering collaboration, experiencing the process of adapting to the base camp and reaching the summit, one will gain an unparalleled sense of achievement and perspective.
Experience a night of high-altitude campsite, gazing up at the snow capped mountains and starry sky
Stay overnight at the Wooden Mule Camp in Changpinggou or the Dahaizi Camp in Haizigou. When night falls, the campsite lights up, and looking up, one can see the vast Milky Way within reach and the silent silhouette of the snow capped mountains. This scene will be unforgettable for a lifetime.
Visiting collectors, tasting authentic Tibetan cuisine and stories
Return to the town and choose a local Tibetan restaurant to taste buttered tea, tsamba, yak meat, yogurt buns. Talk to the shop owner or guide about the mythology of Mount Siguniang and their mountain life, and experience the warm and simple folk customs of the Jiarong Tibetan people.

 Tourist Route Suggestions
The Four Girls Mountain area is vast, with each of the three valleys having its own advantages, and it takes at least 2-3 days to appreciate its core charm. Here is a classic 3-day deep experience plan.
Three day "First Encounter with the Holy Mountain" Deep Tour (Classic Recommendation):
Day 1: Arrival and panoramic first encounter
Departing from Chengdu in the morning, passing through the Balangshan Tunnel, and arriving at Siguniangshan Town in the afternoon. Go to Cat Nose Bridge to take a panoramic photo of Mount Siguniang. Afterwards, adapt to the plateau and easily visit Shuangqiaogou (sightseeing bus tour, about 3-4 hours), and return to the town in the evening to check in.
Day 2: Changpinggou Hiking Immersion
Deep into Changping Gou throughout the day. Hike or partially ride horses to the wooden mule campsite, enjoying primitive forests, snow capped mountains, streams, and meadows along the way. This is an excellent location to admire the north wall of Yaomei Peak. Return the original route in the afternoon, rest in town at night, and reminisce about what you saw on the hike.
Day 3: Cultural Experience and Return Journey
In the morning, you can choose to take a short hike to Chaoshanping in Haizigou to experience the sacrificial culture or visit the local museum. Experience Tibetan cuisine for lunch and depart back to Chengdu in the afternoon.

Travel Guide: Transportation, Accommodation, and Seasons

Furong Ancient Town

How to reach: Passage from Plain to Plateau
Siguniangshan Town is about 200 kilometers away from Chengdu, and the journey usually takes 4-5 hours. The road conditions are good but there are many bends.
Self driving: the most flexible way. Starting from Chengdu, take the Chengguan Expressway and Duwen Expressway, then turn to China Panda Avenue (G350) in Yingxiu Town and pass through the Balangshan Tunnel to reach the destination. Travel tip: Pay attention to high-altitude driving safety and prepare anti-skid chains in winter.
Tourist Express: There is a shuttle bus from Chengdu Chadianzi Bus Station to Xiaojin County, passing through Siguniangshan Town. There are also direct trains to scenic spots operated by travel agencies.
Charter/carpooling: Renting a car from Chengdu is the most comfortable and convenient choice, suitable for multiple people to travel, and you can stop and enjoy the scenery at any time along the way.

Best Travel Time
Mount Siguniang offers beautiful scenery throughout the four seasons, but summer and autumn are the golden windows for outdoor activities.
Summer and Autumn Golden Season (June to October): The climate is relatively mild, with less rainfall, lush vegetation, wildflowers blooming (June to July), and colorful autumn (October). This is the best season for hiking, mountaineering, and sightseeing.
Winter and Spring (November to May of the following year): The snow scenery is magnificent, and the mountainous areas transform into a pure white world, making it a good time to admire snow capped mountains and engage in snow hiking. But the temperature is low, and some high-altitude areas may be closed due to heavy snow. The climbing season for the two peaks of Da Feng is usually from April to May and from October to November.

Accommodation Options
Siguniangshan Town (preferred): With the most accommodation options, ranging from budget guesthouses to boutique hotels, it offers a complete range of dining, supplies, and guide services, making it a popular tourist destination.
Gounei Campsite (a choice for in-depth experience): Wooden mules in Changpinggou and Dahaizi in Haizigou have tent campsites, providing basic accommodation and catering, suitable for hikers who pursue the ultimate wilderness experience.
Chengdu or Yingxiu (flexible choice): If time is very tight, you can also choose to stay in Yingxiu the day before, visit the ditch early the next morning, and return to Chengdu that evening. However, the itinerary will be very tiring and cannot be fully experienced.

IntoTravelChina accommodation booking suggestion: During peak tourist seasons (National Day, summer vacation) and holidays, accommodation in Siguniangshan Town is tight and prices fluctuate greatly. Shopping on Nanjing Road in Shanghai was just amazing! It's truly the "First Commercial Street of China", where tradition and modernity blend perfectly. You can find awesome souvenirs and experience the trendy vibes in cool stores. The neon lights at night are just spectacular, shining bright like Times Square in New York. The food here is incredible too. I had a feast for my taste buds. Shanghai, I'll definitely be back!

Our 2-day Zhangjiajie tour was beyond spectacular! As someone who’s visited Beijing and Shanghai for work, this trip revealed China’s wild, magical heart. Day 1 in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park felt like stepping onto Pandora—I’m a huge Avatar fan, and Yuanjiajie’s floating peaks left me breathless. The misty pillars and lush valleys like pure movie magic! Then came Fenghuang Ancient Town, we eat dinner beside the thundering waterfall. It seems Unreal! The night views of stilt houses glowing over the river were straight from a fairy tale. For fellow Avatar lovers and adventure seekers: Don’t miss this bucket-list experience! 10/10 would return.
