Blue gene - Haichang Group's marine feelings
The birth of Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park is rooted in the deep "blue gene" of Haichang Holdings. The group originated in Dalian in its early years, and with its long-term focus on marine life conservation and tourism industry, it has successfully operated many well-known marine parks such as Dalian Tiger Beach, Qingdao Haichang, and Chengdu Haichang. The construction of the Shanghai project is a key step in its strategic layout, aiming to inject the purest marine culture and the most cutting-edge theme entertainment experience into the international metropolis of Shanghai to create a world-class marine tourism benchmark.

Lingang blooms - a miracle creation on the coast of the East China Sea
The park opened in 2018 and is located in the rapidly developing Lingang New Area of Shanghai, which means facing the future and embracing the ocean with the city. From the beginning of planning and design, it has been determined to go beyond the traditional aquarium model, with "immersive experience" and "ecological science education" as its wings, not only introducing rare polar marine species such as killer whales, emperor penguins, and polar bears, but also creating a number of "domestic firsts": such as the "Underwater World Pavilion" with a super-large immersive exhibition tank, the iceberg theme area that can be crossed by cable cars, and the adventure experience that perfectly integrates marine ecology with cutting-edge amusement equipment such as roller coasters. It is not just a park, but a dream about the ocean, a dialogue that connects humanity with the deep blue.

Must-see spectacle: a symphonic poem of the rhythm of life and artificial wonders

Wonders of Life – a gathering of polar sea elves around the world
The animal display here aims to create a dialogue of life across latitudes.

- Antarctic Penguin Pavilion (Iceberg Secret Land): This is the world's largest 360-degree panoramic Antarctic penguin exhibition hall. You can see the largest emperor penguin pacing on the "ice field", and you can also see the lively Adélie penguin shuttling through the water like a rocket. The museum truly restores the polar day and night and seasonal changes, and the penguins live leisurely.
- Iceberg Arctic Pavilion (White Kingdom): Echoing Antarctica, it is home to the polar bear, the "overlord" of the Arctic, and the beluga whale, the "smiling angel". Through the huge acrylic windows, you can observe the energetic swimming of polar bears in the water or listen to the ethereal and beautiful singing of beluga whales. There are also cute arctic foxes, arctic wolves, etc., which together form a complete arctic ecological picture.
- Volcano Shark Pavilion (Deep Sea Temptation): Step into the interior of a "sleeping" volcano, where thousands of schools of silver golden horse mackerel circle like a storm in a huge curved exhibition tank, while giant whale sharks, seemingly lazy sand tiger sharks, and graceful rays cruise leisurely, staging a quiet and shocking deep-sea visual feast.
- Coral Jellyfish Pavilion (Dreamy Light and Shadow): This is a visual paradise of colors and forms. Thousands of jellyfish dance like elves in outer space under the changing lights; Corals of different shapes form an underwater rainforest. It's a great location for a dreamy silhouette blockbuster.

Humanistic wonders - an immersive fantasy woven by technology and entertainment
Here, human ingenuity meets the wonders of nature, creating a one-of-a-kind experience.

- Core Show (Can't Miss the Highlights):
    - "Killer Whale Science Popularization Show": Staged at the Walrus Theater (later moved to the Killer Whale Theater), it is a rare killer whale behavior display and ecological science popularization class in China. The huge and intelligent killer whales soared into the air and hit the water, which was a shocking scene and conveyed the concept of protecting the ocean.
    - "Dolphin Love Song": At the Dolphin Theater, this is a large-scale romantic show that combines dolphin interaction, high-altitude diving, singing and dancing art with plot, with a moving plot and beautiful effects.
    - "Moby Dick Love": In the Iceberg Arctic Pavilion, divers and beluga whales dance together in the water, interpreting a pure and flawless "deep sea love", and the picture is very artistic.
    - "Mermaid Fairy Tale": In front of the giant screen of the Volcano Shark Pavilion, professional divers transform into mermaids and dance with thousands of fish, recreating Andersen's dream scenes.
- Pinnacle Rides (Fast & Furious Unleashed):
    - Dolphin Coaster: The "treasure of the town" that winds through the entire park and experiences the thrill of speeding on the crest of the waves.
    - Volcano Rafting: Take a rafting boat through mysterious volcanic caves, spinning, bumping and water cannon attacks, a must-do for summer coolness.
    - Space-Time Cable Car: An aerial corridor that connects the two themed areas of icebergs and volcanoes, and is the best mobile observation deck for panoramic views of the entire park.
- Ultraman Theme Pavilion (The Power of Light): The first large-scale Ultraman-themed immersive experience area in China, including exhibitions, theaters, restaurants and malls, it is a place where countless children and fans can realize their dreams.

Photography tips:
> The "Deep Sea Voyage" tunnel in the Underwater World Pavilion is a classic camera position for shooting people in the same frame as a school of giant fish, and it is recommended to use a wide-angle lens.
> In front of the cylindrical exhibition tank of the Coral Jellyfish Museum, you can take artistic silhouettes of people using light changes.
> The penguin living area of the Antarctic Penguin Pavilion can capture the majesty of the emperor penguin or the naivety of the little penguin.
> At night, the "Mountain and Sea Whale" drone performance and water iron flowers were filmed on the banks of the Qiulian River, and the effect was shocking.

Travel Guide: Transportation, Accommodation and Seasons

Furong Ancient Town Furong Ancient Town

How to Get There: A Seamless Guide
The park is located in Pudong, far from the city center, but the transportation network is becoming more and more perfect.
- Subway (recommended): Take Shanghai Metro Line 16 to "Lingang Avenue" station, and then transfer to the park's free shuttle bus (about 5-10 minutes) or take a taxi, which is the most convenient.
- Self-driving: The navigation is set up with "Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park", and there is a large parking lot in the park and hotel, charging about 50 yuan/day.
- High-speed rail/plane: After arriving at Shanghai Hongqiao or Pudong International Airport, you can take Metro Line 2 to Line 16, or take a taxi directly (longer distance, higher cost).

Important return reminder: If you leave the park after watching the night show, you need to pay attention to the last train time of Metro Line 16 (usually around 22:30). If you miss it, you can choose to book an online car-hailing or contact the hotel.

Best time to visit
Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park is open all year round, but spring and autumn (March-May, September-November) are the most comfortable for the most comfortable and outdoor experience.
- Spring and Autumn Golden Season: The temperature is suitable, and it is comfortable to queue and watch the parade outdoors, making it the peak season for visiting.
- Summer Carnival Season (June-August): Experience water-friendly events such as "Volcano Rafting" and may extend the operating hours of the night show. However, pay attention to sun protection, heatstroke and afternoon thunderstorms.
- Winter Fantasy Season (December-February): Relatively few tourists, allowing for more leisurely indoor venues and performances. The park will create a festive atmosphere such as Christmas and New Year's Day, which is interesting. Some outdoor water events may be closed seasonally.

Shopping on Nanjing Road in Shanghai was just amazing! It's truly the "First Commercial Street of China", where tradition and modernity blend perfectly. You can find awesome souvenirs and experience the trendy vibes in cool stores. The neon lights at night are just spectacular, shining bright like Times Square in New York. The food here is incredible too. I had a feast for my taste buds. Shanghai, I'll definitely be back!

As a solo traveler from Canada, I was nervous about navigating China alone—but this 11-day tour was PERFECT! From hiking the Great Wall at sunrise (Day 3) to gasping at the Terracotta Army (Day 5), every day delivered ‘pinch-me’ moments. The real showstopper? Zhangjiajie’s Avatar Mountains (Day 7)! Our guide made the stone pillars come alive with stories. Massive thanks for handling all logistics—bullet train tickets, entry passes, car! And the 4-star hotels surprised me.

Our 2-day Zhangjiajie tour was beyond spectacular! As someone who’s visited Beijing and Shanghai for work, this trip revealed China’s wild, magical heart. Day 1 in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park felt like stepping onto Pandora—I’m a huge Avatar fan, and Yuanjiajie’s floating peaks left me breathless. The misty pillars and lush valleys like pure movie magic! Then came Fenghuang Ancient Town, we eat dinner beside the thundering waterfall. It seems Unreal! The night views of stilt houses glowing over the river were straight from a fairy tale. For fellow Avatar lovers and adventure seekers: Don’t miss this bucket-list experience! 10/10 would return.
